Holiday Trends for 2025
The Return of Ralph Lauren’s Iconic Holiday Style
The Ralph Lauren aesthetic is perhaps the most dominant trend this holiday season. Their signature look, which blends American heritage and British refinement with curated, rustic touches, translates beautifully into holiday decor that is both timeless and inviting. The iconic palette of deep reds, greens and navy, with touches of gold, are a nod to the brand’s storied collections of the 1990’s that defined a generation’s sense of understated luxury. I remember drooling over their glen plaid cut crystal barware and their celebrated Hamptom Floral dinnerware that paired florals with plaid. A girl can dream right?
In the ’90s, Ralph Lauren’s home line brought high fashion into the living room, blending equestrian details and vintage Americana with European influences. That same sensibility is returning for the holidays, especially when setting the table for a special gathering: cut crystal stemware, vintage silver, tartan plaid linens and gold and brass accents. It’s a curated mix that feels luxurious yet collected and approachable.
Berry and Bright
When looking at holiday color trends for 2025, one of the most talked-about palettes is burgundy, plum and pink. Browsing the aisles of any home decor store, you can see it in ornaments, tableware, and decorative items. Let’s talk about what makes this color trend so inviting!
Burgandy is this year’s evolution of the classic holiday red. It’s the moodier, more sophisticated sister of traditional Christmas red. When paired with gold or cream accents, it strikes the perfect balance between luxury and tradition. Plum introduces a refined twist, bridging the gap between traditional jewel tones and contemporary neutrals, easily pairing with both gilded and rustic elements. Cue pink for a fresh and playful contrast, breaking up the intensity of the deeper hues. What I personally love most about this palette is its versatility. It can be luxe, bold, playful, feminine. There are endless possibilities for mixing patterns and layering textures to achieve the aesthetic you want.
Artful Celebration
Anthropologie’s design language is all about artful layering, eclectic details and a sense of story. I love blending vintage and modern in my own personal style. Anthropologie consistently gets it right, with unconventional color palettes such as the pink, coral, aqua and chartreuse you see here, to create a warm, collected, layered look that reflects individual style. Anthropologie is known for playful, whimsical looks, and for the holidays, it just evokes that sense of magic and wonder we all remember as a kid. One of my favorite things is seeing their holiday window decorations each year. It always inspires me to think outside the box and redefine what Christmas can look like. And if you happen to go in to the store, they’ve got a fabulous collaboration with New York City Ballet this year that is truly dreamy.
The Return of Joyful Maximalism
2025 holiday trends lean toward joy, color, and personality. After years of minimalism, people want décor that feels layered and expressive. This aesthetic—bright, patterned, and unapologetically pretty—captures the optimism of the new season. I say go big or go home! Grandmillenial style is a balance - refined but playful. Pattern on pattern but always polished. Pairing vintage chinoiserie with modern geometric prints. Maximalism but edited. This vibrant palette pushes traditional holiday red and green into fresh, fashion-forward territory. Lime green and tangerine add brightness and energy, while the bold red keeps things anchored in holiday spirit. Together, they feel playful, Southern, and preppy—perfect for hosts who love color and confidence. I have to admit, I may scrap my original Christmas Eve tablescape plan for this one. It just makes me smile. It oozes Southern hospitality.
There are some holiday looks that are timeless, but every year there are trends that inspire new looks. The Wheeler Haus Holiday Look Book aims to bring together current holiday trends and classic elements into unique designs for your holiday table. I start each design with a mood board, and from there create the custom placemat for each Look. There are two versions for each tablescape design: a Designer Look, and a Look for Less that focuses on eco-friendly, recyclable tableware. I hope you will find inspiration to create your own holiday table masterpiece!
